I'm a little teapot

Well not so little, this set was a Christmas pressy given to me over a few days I only had one cup so it was a lovely suprise.
Sugar bowl and cream jug
The lady has a bow on the handle
The Gent has a bow tie
This week I received the last cup which is a limited edition, signed by the designer Helen Hunt for Los Angeles Youth Network. I didn't know when I first started to look for these how collectable they can be.

This one is the original she has silver pearls and lips the signiture is on the back. The other cups have yum written inside this one is plain.
I still find it strange that Baileys used a teaset to advertise there irish ceam drink, but I'm glad they did I love them. I now need to find somewhere to display them but thats another story  :)

I'm hoping to go to a jumble sale tomorrow the first I have seen here for ages, I hope I'm not dissapointed.
Have a good weekend wherever you are (its freezing here I'm tucked up in bed with my trusty hot water bottle ) bye for now

Spice up your life

I decided for theNew Year we would try and have something different for Dinner a couple of times a week.
This is a vegetarian recipe called

Garem Masala Filo Pie
If you like samosas you will love this, the recipe says 1tbls of garam masala + chilli, I don't like it too hot I prefer it to be tasty so I used 1level tbls only and no chilli, it still had a kick to it though.Making one big pie is much quicker as well.We had it with salad and mango chutney
The Filo pastry was lovely and crisp
I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the inside

This is a link to the blog where you can get the recipe, if you are interested you will find it on the sidebar there are loads of unusual recipes on here I was really pleased to have found this blog.
have a good week

http://www.lancashireecclescakes.co.uk/index.asp
Sometimes I need a bit of a reminder of my roots, namely the North of England.
When I was young I was told these cakes were fly cakes yuk, and I wouldn't touch one for love nor money as they say.
What a crafty so and so my Dad was, over the years I got braver and a bit (not much :)  more switched on and decided to try one, what a delight, they are so lovely, flaky pastry, sweetfruit and a buttery flavour.
Go on try one there's no flies I promise :)

Click on the link at the top for more info

Do you have a cake tale to tell ?

Sorry I havent been around much lately work seems to get in the way :(

hope your all well and happy
bye for now Cate x

The last indulgence

I made this yesterday as a New Year treat, trifle always has a nostalgic quality about it, this one especially as the secret receipe :) came from my mum, and the glass dish came from my Mother in Law, she once told me the dish had another smaller one that went with it, fixing together somehow.I have a thing for presssed glass all shapes and sizes.

I thought I would share this pic of Zara in her Christmas leg warmers, they were bought for her by my daughter, I think she enjoyed the wrapping paper just as much :)

bye for now Cate x
