Sometimes I need a bit of a reminder of my roots, namely the North of England.
When I was young I was told these cakes were fly cakes yuk, and I wouldn't touch one for love nor money as they say.
What a crafty so and so my Dad was, over the years I got braver and a bit (not much :)  more switched on and decided to try one, what a delight, they are so lovely, flaky pastry, sweetfruit and a buttery flavour.
Go on try one there's no flies I promise :)

Do you have a cake tale to tell ?

hope your all well and happy
bye for now Cate x

They definitely are the best Eccles cakes I have ever tasted, my dad originated from Lancashire so we were brought up on them. I have just stuffed myself with a strawberry jam doughnut whilst reading your post!!!

I have never eaten those, I rather like a nice piece of shortbread than a full on cake. Nice to see you back today ;-)) Take lots of care, Dee x

I know lots of people, adults, that call anything with currants in dead fly cakes. I just love all cake really. Ooops.
