Old Leigh

yesterday we had a trip out to Leigh on Sea it's just down the coast from us, we never seem to get time to go out together so it made a nice change from the usual shopping trips. We ended up in Old Leigh a pretty cobbled street and still busy even though the weather was bitter cold.

There a lots of tea rooms and places selling fresh fish on the quay. The pics are better if you click on them.
This was taken between the houses

I wouldn't like to mistake this bit of road in the dark.

We found a lovely shop, inside thay had an old Southend on Sea tram which had been renovated, you can just see it in the background.

I'm not happy taking pics in shops, even though I had asked permission, but I knew you would want to see :)

I didn't take any more pics as it was a bit dull and cold infact it took me hours to get warm, I somehow forgot it was February and didn't dress the part.

It was nice to spend time together what do you think of the shop ?

bye for now Cate x

Nice pics, Cate. Missed that shop completely, mind you I was on a charity shop mission. There are quite a few of those "trinket" shops aren't there?

That looks a great shop - the sort I like to spend ages in while Mr VTT drums his fingers! Love the blue painted cupboard :)

Hello Cate, such a great post. That shop looks fabulous!
I have to admit that I am a wee bit jealous of Leigh On Sea. I live near to Leigh in Greater Manchester but it is no where the sea and no where as a pretty.

I lived in Leigh-on-Sea for 5 years, you've managed to make the old quay look glamorous! Glad to see the gift shop is still there.

Did you go up the hill to the main shopping area?

Just this instant found your blog. WOW! I was brought up in Hadleigh from 1960 (born in London moved when aged 4yrs) went to school in Hadleigh and then King John School Thundersly, married in Southend Registry Office, my three boys were born at Rochford! Spent many Sundays as child walking from Leigh Station to Chalkwell and back again with mum and dad , or if school holidays catching the bus to Leigh Station doing the same walk and catching the bus home from Chalkwell. We left in 1986.
